In The Ends

"We only want to be free. And as funny as it sounds it's all we want. To not have our egos bound with the rays of suns. Because man should be free as falling rain. To find what he loves even if it's pain" - The Growlers

Molokai

Hawaiian island #5 for Ol' Marco.  A quick solo adventure over the 2017 holidays.  Not too many tourists rolling through Molokai - which is a good thing, old Hawaii.  You can see most of the island in about 36 hours.  My AirBnb came with a car - you don't see that very often.  Kalaupapa National Historical Park is a still-active leper colony operating on the north side of the island on a remote, stunning peninsula.  Tragic history, though believed to be necessary at the time, it's a reminder of the massive challenges with disease throughout the course of human history, with leprosy causing issues even in the US as late as the 1960s.

Always great to see Mike back in Oahu.  It has now become my home away from home.  Big thanks to Ula once again!

Old Guys Playing Sports

The last couple weeks have been pretty solid for old guys playing sports.  That makes me happy :)

In high school, any guy younger than me wasn't getting a lot of respect from me, simply based on age (90% of the time).  That approach lingered in college and eventually faded away by my late 20s, but solidified itself in a different form in my 30s.  It moved over to sports, and while I might have respect for athletes younger than me, the only guys that can qualify as "my guys" have to be older than me.  If you're my guy, I'm passionately rooting for you, tuning in to watch you play, setting the DVR to watch games I missed and even stay up really late or wake really early to watch if they're playing overseas.

Two weeks ago my guy T Woods made the cut for the first time since 2015.

And then my guy R Federer won the Australian Open for his 20th Grand Slam title.

And then my guy T Brady played in his 8th Super Bowl and threw for more passing yards than any QB in history.

Respect!
