RT 17: Yosemite

The mountains are calling and I must go.  RT 17 found us back west of the Mississippi (now 9 west, 8 east) with our first ever California RT.  Park & I hopped in the car (not a Mustang! ) and scooped Bort & Red from the lovely Fresno airport.  From there it was 3 days of buddytime, first landing in the Gold Rush town of Mariposa for the night where Bort & Red pocketed an extra $50 by sharing a room (the Danimal spirit was with us!).  Then onwards to Yosemite for the epic & misleading 4 Mile Hike (10 miles round trip).  Back at Autocamp Yosemite, we ended up not needing Bart's requested hatchet, they had us setup with all the amenities needed with airstreams and camp fire beers.  I still don't know how to light a fire or grill - yes, sad!  Day 2 we scoped out El Capitan where climbing dreams come true.

Good ol' fashioned all American fun.  The national parks: America's best idea.  RT: our best idea.
