A couple takeaways from World Cup in Qatar:

- Everyone knows natural gas and oil are valuable, but it's not until you spend time in a place like Qatar that you realize how valuable they actually are.

- If you ask yourself how Qatar's investments make sense, you're asking yourself the wrong question.  They don't really need to make sense.  

Silver lining: Being able to see any match within an hour drive of Doha is great for any big fan of association football.  Spain vs Germany, Brazil vs Switzerland, USA vs Iran for me.
