Molokai
Hawaiian island #5 for Ol' Marco. A quick solo adventure over the 2017
holidays. Not too many tourists rolling
through Molokai - which is a good thing, old Hawaii. You can see most of the island in about 36
hours. My AirBnb came with a car - you
don't see that very often. Kalaupapa
National Historical Park is a still-active leper colony operating on the north
side of the island on a remote, stunning peninsula. Tragic history, though believed to be
necessary at the time, it's a reminder of the massive challenges with disease
throughout the course of human history, with leprosy causing issues even in the
US as late as the 1960s.
Always great to see Mike back in Oahu. It has now become my home away from
home. Big thanks to Ula once again!
