In The Ends

"We only want to be free. And as funny as it sounds it's all we want. To not have our egos bound with the rays of suns. Because man should be free as falling rain. To find what he loves even if it's pain" - The Growlers

Covid Escape Hatch Round 7 (the final round)

The 7th and final covid escape hatch trip took place over July 4 week.  Kicking things off in Denver with a Roger cannabis grow house tour, a Hintze fam hang session and the #11 disc golf course in the world, Beaver Ranch.  Onward to Colorado Springs to see Q and a hike up Manitou Incline in under an hour (44 mins).  Then an attempt at sandboarding at Great Sand Dunes National Park.  And finally down to Taos for a solo explore sesh and more disc at the Taos Ski Hill.

For now, I've pretty much maxed out all the cool things the western US has to offer.  Across 7 covid escape hatch trips I've hit 10 states, logged nearly 25K miles in the car, visited 15 national parks and most importantly, kept my sanity.  It's now time to close out this chapter (even with the delta variant gaining steam) and look ahead to the next set of adventures.

RT 15: Chicago

In an effort to align with the Olympics, Euro Cup and other global tentpole events, RT 15 was postponed until 2021 due to the 'rona.  This one required patience, but it happened!  We needed a softball to ensure it came together, so Chi-town was the easiest destination - fortunately there were no carjackings or murders; the Windy City delivered.  Road trips for Red & Danimal, flights for Bort & I, and all Chrome had to do was roll out of bed and walk across the street.

The vball tradition continues: Solid games in beautiful weather on Friday, and we decided to run it back on Saturday where we picked up five more shirtless white dudes with limited volleyball skills to help raise our confidence.

Kingston Mines on Friday - what an incredible bar.  And the baseball gods were kind enough to us on Saturday, a drizzle throughout but no rainout and they brought a guest appearance from Teddy Mac!  Always a special experience to be at Wrigley with good friends.

The airbnb in Wrigleyville felt a lot like 27 N. Johnson.  One bathroom, everyone gets only one towel and a fridge filled with nothing but beer.  And we've started a new tradition of listening to music at 3am with the lights off.  LOL.

Fun to see the conversations at their core remain the same, but branch out to new adult areas like kids, nannies and wife permission.  Glad we all secured permission for this one and THANK GOD RTs are back on track.
