RT #7: The Kentucky Derby

Partying. And drama. And heat. And more drama. And more partying. And really loud roosters. Reunion Trip #7 took us down to Louisville, KY for the Kentucky Derby. Arguably the dirtiest RT to date (which is really saying something), my favorite line of the weekend did not come from an RT Member, but instead a gangster Janitor at Expo Five who yelled out to no one in particular “You guys are fucking killing me!” when the line for the bathrooms wrapped around the corner and guys are clogging toilets, leaving their used underwear in the corner of the stall, urinating all over the place and blasting through toilet paper like it's going out of style, all of which he had to clean up.

Spending two days at the Expo Five RV Parking Lot / year-round flea market and attending the Kentucky Derby was an experience full of contradictions. Going to the largest horse race event in the world….and never seeing a horse. Showering next to mentally retarded guy in a wheelchair taking a shit…..and then taking extra time in that bathroom to put in hair gel for a night on the town. Weird, wild stuff.

It was a trip that saw rookies step up and veterans up their old wily tricks. The heat was intense and emotions ran high. 4th Street Live has a French Quarter feel to it. And the Kentucky Derby infield, especially Turn 3, is one of the biggest parties I’ve ever seen. There was even someone murdered at the Derby. Congrats to everyone for not dying.
