In The Ends

"We only want to be free. And as funny as it sounds it's all we want. To not have our egos bound with the rays of suns. Because man should be free as falling rain. To find what he loves even if it's pain" - The Growlers

Mulholland Drive

I went to see the Smoking Popes in Hollywood a few months ago. After the show, I took a stroll down Hollywood Blvd as I walked back to my car. As I usually do when I walk someplace by myself, I started humming a tune that popped into my head. Then I started to get a melody down and started singing words that went along with the music. By the time I got back to my car, I was full-out singing a new song.

The words of the song are related to Mulholland Drive in the Hollywood Hills. Although I had never driven on the street, Ruane and others had told me how cool it was and what great views of the Valley and LA there are from various points on the street. I recorded the melody of the song and the basic idea for the lyrics on my cell phone so I could figure out the guitar part later.

When Jules came out to visit she recorded me playing Mulholland Drive on her digital camera. The sound isn't very good and the video doesn't entirely match up with the music, but you get the idea. In my opinion, it is the best song I have written to this date.

if you have not already watched Entourage, you need to. I rented the first season off Netflix this week, it's fucking money. You'll love it.

Plus, every one of the characters reminds me of someone we know.

Well I think it's awesome. It's too bad I didn't think about it at the time but I could have deleted stuff so you could actually have the whole song on here...but it's better than nothing.
